      THE SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM

Proverbs 9: 1.  Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars...

Pillars - Vertical columns or posts used to support a structure .

Wisdom: The right use or exercise of knowledge.(Knowing what to do, when to do & how to do )

1.) Wisdom is the “main ingredient” for every endeavor of life. Proverbs 4:7.  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.

2.) Wisdom is a gift from God. Proverbs 2: 6.  For the Lord gives wisdom...James 1: 5.  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God...

3.) Jesus is the source of our Wisdom! -- Simple English...1 Corinthians 1:30  But, because of God, you are now in Christ Jesus. To us, Christ has become wisdom--the only true wisdom that comes from God.

4.) Some benefits of Wisdom: Happiness / Proverbs 3:13.  Happy is the man who finds wisdom...

Promotion/ Honor/ 4:8... she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her.

Guards against immorality/ 7:5...that they may keep you from the immoral woman...

Commendation/ 12: 8.  A man will be commended according to his wisdom.

5.) Wisdom has seven facets, seven foundations, or seven  parts.

1.) Instruction. The act of teaching or informing.

Proverbs 1:7... fools despise instruction. 5: 23.  He (the man who will not receive) shall die for lack of instruction  15:5.  A fool despises ... instruction   4:13.  Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.  8: 33.  Hear instruction and be wise.  9: 9.  Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser... 23:12.  Apply your heart to instruction...

2.) Knowledge. Something revealed (through teaching, experience or divine revelation) that is now on deposit in your mind for future use.

Proverbs 1:22 and fools hate knowledge.  10: 14.  Wise people store up knowledge.  11:9...through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.  15:2.  The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. 17:27.  He who has knowledge spares his words. 21:11 when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.  24:5...a man of knowledge increases strength.

Ecc. 2: 26.  For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight.

  a.) The divine knowledge is having  access to what God knows!

3.) Understanding. To conceive; that is, to take, hold or contain in the mind.( To have a working ability of what you been instructed to do and what you have knowledge of  )

Proverbs 2:2...and apply your heart to understanding  3:13.  Happy is the man... who gains understanding 

9: 6.  Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding.  10: 13.  Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding... 10:23 a man of understanding has wisdom. 11:12 a man of understanding holds his peace. 14: 29.  He who is slow to wrath has great understanding.

15:21 a man of understanding walks uprightly. 16:16 to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver 16: 22.  Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. 17:27 a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

4.) Prudence. Foresight that leads to the avoidance of danger or error. Caution. Horse sense.

8: 5.  O you simple ones, understand prudence.  8:12.  "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence...

5.) Discretion. Discernment which enables a person to judge critically of what is correct and proper.

To be able to judge between two things, decisions, etc. and make the correct choice that will benefit you.

2:11.  discretion will preserve you.  3:21.  My son, let them not depart from your eyes keep sound wisdom and discretion. 19:11.  The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger...  Psalms 112:5...He will guide his affairs with discretion.

6.) Equity.  Level. Righteous, just.  Proverbs 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the right eous: he is a buckler to them that walk upright ly.  3:32 but his secret is with the right eous.

7. The fear of the Lord. 1: 7.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. 9:10.  "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” 10:27.  The fear of the Lord prolongs days. 14: 27.  The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life. 15:33.  The fear of the Lord is the instruction (training) of wisdom. 16:6 by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. See Psalms 34:11-14. “Loving what God loves and despising what God despises.”
