SANCTIFY

JOHN 17:17 SANCTIFY THEM THROUGH THY TRUTH; THY WORD IS TRUTH.

THE SUPERNATURAL WILL FOLLOW SANCTIFICATION!

A.) INITIAL: WHEN YOU ARE BORN AGAIN. YOU BECOME A NEW CREATION. OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY AND ALL THINGS.. ETC

       *SAVED * SANCTIFIED * FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST*

IF YOU WERE GOOD ENOUGH TO RECEIVE THE SON, YOUR GOOD ENOUGH TO RECEIVE THE SPIRIT.

B.) PROGRESSIVE

  ITS A DAILY THING OF RENEWING THE MIND AND CRUCIFYING THE FLESH.

Romans 12:2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...

Galatians 2:20  "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

AS WE DISCOVER THE PROMISES OF GOD FOR OURSELVES AND THEN ACT UPON THEM WE FIND THAT THE POWER IN THE WORD HAS THE ABILITY TO SEPARATE US FROM THE BAD THINGS IN LIFE AS WELL.

1.) SEPARATION FROM SIN.

Joshua 7:13  "Get up, sanctify the people, and say, `Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: "There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.''

   A.) WHEN YOU GO TO JERICHO DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FOR YOURSELF. DO NOT TOUCH THE ACCURSED THING.

   B.) ACHAN: A WEDGE OF GOLD WON’T HURT ANYTHING. A BABYLONIAN GARMENT WILL NOT HARM ANYTHING. O A RATED “r’’ MOVIE WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING. A SOCIAL DRINK WILL NOT HARM ANYONE.

2 CORINTHIANS 6: 16.  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

 17.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

 18.  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

2 Corinthians 7:1  Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

   C.) THAT’S WHY WE HAVE NO VICTORY OVER THE ENEMY/ THAT’S WHY HE RUNS OUR HOMES, ETC. WE HAVEN’T TAKEN AWAY THE ACCURSED THING .

2.) THE PRIESTS WERE SANCTIFIED! O WE KNOW THEY WERE ANOINTED TO DO THE WORK OF THE LORD BUT THEY WERE FIRST SET APART FROM A THING UNTO A THING!

Leviticus 8:10  Then Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and sanctified them.

   A.) THE ANOINTING SETS ONE APART

   B.) BUT SANCTIFICATION WILL PRODUCE THE ANOINTING!

Leviticus 8:30  Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood which was on the altar, and sprinkled it on Aaron, on his garments, on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him; and he sanctified Aaron, his garments, his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.

THE BLOOD/ OIL PRODUCED SANCTIFICATION( THE SETTING APART)IN THEIR LIVES BUT SANCTIFICATION (THE SETTING APART)PRODUCED THE POWER OF THE ANOINTING!

   A.) BLOOD= SALVATION

   B.) HOLY SPIRIT= EMPOWERS US TO LIVE HOLY OR CONSECRATED LIVES

Revelation 1:6  ...and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Chronicles 15:14  So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

   A.) POWER & PRESENCE OF GOD (THE ARK)

2 Chronicles 5:11  And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves...

 14.  So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.

3.) THE KINGS WERE SANCTIFIED! SANCTIFICATION WILL PRODUCE KINGSHIP.

O WE KNOW THEY WERE ANOINTED, BUT WE FORGET THEY WERE SANCTIFIED.

1 Samuel 16:5  And he said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.'' Then he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.

   A.) ONE OF THE SANCTIFIED SONS OF JESSE WAS ELECTED AS KING!

ROMANS 5:17...they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

4.) WE ALL DESIRE TO BE USED BY GOD:

2 Timothy 2:21  Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

BENEFITS:

Joshua 3:5  And Joshua said to the people, "Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.''

JESUS PRAYED THIS PRAYER TO THE FATHER CONCERNING THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH. THE BASE DEFINITION IS TO SEPARATE FROM ONE THING UNTO ANOTHER.

FIRST WE MUST RECOGNIZE THAT THE “TOOL” OF SANCTIFICATION IS THE WORD OF GOD. THE TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD REVEALS THE WILL OF GOD FOR OUR LIVES SO THAT WE CAN SEPARATE OURSELVES FROM THE UNGODLY THINGS AND LIVE A LIFE MORE PLEASING TO HIM.

Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword...

FOR EXAMPLE:

THE WORD OF GOD SEPARATES US FROM SICKNESS UNTO HEALTH.

THE WORD OF GOD SEPARATES US FROM POVERTY UNTO PROSPERITY.

IT SEPARATES US FROM WORRY AND ANXIETY UNTO PEACE AND JOY!

TODAY GET INTO THE WORD OF GOD AND ALLOW IT TO SEPARATE YOU FROM THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT KEEP IN YOU IN DEFEAT!

1 Thessalonians 5:23  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
