                                   Positive Salvation

THE BIBLE IS AN ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY ON SALVATION

1.) BIBLE REVEALS TO US HOW TO BE SAVED.

2.)   HOW WE CAN KNOW WE ARE SAVED.

TO BE SAVED AND TO KNOW IT IS THE GREATEST BLESSING THAT CAN COME TO MAN!

1.) TO BE SAVED AND TO KNOW IT WE MUST KNOW THAT SALVATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR US.

A.) CHRIST PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR REDEMPTION. ( WE OWED A DEBT WE COULD NOT PAY NOW OR EVER...HE PAID A PRICE HE DID NOT OWE FOR US! )

1 TIMOTHY 2: 4.  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

 5.  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

 6.  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

HEBREWS 2: 9.  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

B.) IT IS GOD’S WILL THAT WE BE SAVED.

2 PETER 3: 9.  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

-- Living Bible

2 Peter 3:9  He isn't really being slow about his promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way. But he is waiting, for the good reason that he is not willing that any should perish, and he is giving more time for sinners to repent.

C.) THIS SALVATION IS FOR EVERY ONE.

REVELATION 22: 17.  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

2.) TO BE SAVED AND KNOW IT WE MUST KNOW AND MEET THE CONDITIONS OF SALVATION.

A.) ONE MUST REPENT OF SINS.

LUKE 13: 3.  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

-- Living Bible

Luke 13:3  Not at all! And don't you realize that you also will perish unless you leave your evil ways and turn to God?

“THE FORSAKING OF SIN”

ISAIAH 55: 6.  Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

 7.  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

B.) ONE MUST HAVE FAITH IN CHRIST FOR SALVATION.

ACTS 16: 30.  And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

 31.  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

JOHN 6: 47.  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

3.) TO BE SAVED AND KNOW IT WE MUST KNOW THAT OUR LIVES CORRESPOND TO THE WORD OF GOD.

A.) THAT WE ARE NEW CREATURES. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17.  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.                                   - Living Bible

2 Corinthians 5:17  When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same any more. A new life has begun!

B.) THAT WE ARE FREE FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN.   ROMANS 6:12.  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.-- Living Bible

Romans 6:12  Do not let sin control your puny body any longer; do not give in to its sinful desires.

C.) THAT WE ARE TO LOVE THE BRETHREN.

1 JOHN 3:14.  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

-- Living Bible

1 John 3:14  If we love other Christians it proves that we have been delivered from hell and given eternal life. But a person who doesn't have love for others is headed for eternal death.

GALATIANS 6:10.  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

D.) THAT WE MUST LOVE AND OBEY THE TRUTH. (THE WORD)

1 JOHN 2: 3.  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

 4.  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

 5.  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

PSALMS 119: 129.  Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.

 130.  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

 131.  I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.

E.) THAT WE MUST LOVE THE HOUSE OF GOD.

-- Living Bible

Psalms 26:8  Lord, I love your home, this shrine where the brilliant, dazzling splendor of your presence lives.

-- Living Bible

Psalms 84:10  A single day spent in your Temple is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a doorman of the Temple of my God than live in palaces of wickedness.

-- New King James

Psalms 122:1  I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord.''

F.) THAT WE MUST LOVE EVERYONE EVEN OUR ENEMIES.

MATTHEW 5: 44.  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

 45.  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

 46.  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

 47.  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
