     A More Sure Word

2 Peter 1:17.  For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

 18.  And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

 19.  We have also a more sure word...whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place...

SURE: Certain; unfailing; infallible Firm; stable; steady; not liable to failure, loss or change. Strong; secure; not liable to be broken or disturbed. without doubt; doubtless, true; undoubted; unquestionable; that cannot be denied; existing in fact and truth, always producing the intended effect; as, we may have a certain remedy for a disease ( an anchor )

THE WORD OF GOD.

a.) The Word is our contact with God.

We are Born again by the Word.

1 Peter 1: 23.  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God...

We are cleansed & sanctified by the Word.

Ephesians 5:26  that he might sanctify it, (THE CHURCH) having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word... (A. S. )

We are to be indwelt by the Word.

Colossians 3: 16.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...

John 15:7.  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

b.) The Word is God’s contact with us.

Jeremiah 1:12 Then the Lord said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it."

The Word is God’s will given to us for our prayer lives. The Word is God’s part of our prayer lives.

   c.) The Word is alive.

Hebrews 4: 12.  For the word of God is quick...( A.S.  For the word of God is living, and active) (TLB  For whatever God says to us is full of living power)

(NJ  The word of God is something alive and active)

d.) The Word is exalted and settled forever                                                    Psalms 138:2... for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name...

Psalms 119: 89.  Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

Your word, LORD, stands forever; it is firm as the heavens. (NA)

e.) God and His Word are One.

Whatever God can do His Word can do! God’s Word will do and produce whatever God can do!

John 1:1.  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us...

f.) Not just an historical account of the nation of Israel.

THE POWER IN THE WORD

The Word of God has the power within itself to bring itself to pass!

a.) a hydrogen or nuclear bomb

Isaiah 55:11.  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire,

And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. (NAS)

(NJ)...it will not return to me unfulfilled...

shall prosper... achieving the end for which I sent it.(NA) and succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (NR) Hebrew: {tsaw-lay'-akh}; to push forward, KJV--break out, come (mightily), go over, be good, be meet, be profitable, (cause to, effect, make to)

LIVING BY THE WORD

Mathew 4:4 `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' ''

a.) The preached Word :2 Timothy 4: 2.  Preach the word...                                  Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing the word of God.

b.) Study the Word : 2 Timothy 2:15.  Study to shew thyself approved unto God... ( Studying the Word of God brings His approval!)

c.) Confess The Word.  Matthew 8:8... but speak the word only...

This is how the Word returns to the Father (Is 55:11)

Romans 10: 9.  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth , and shalt believe in thine heart...thou shalt be saved. (soteria)

Hebrews 3:1  Therefore, holy brethren,  consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus...(NKJ) Jesus is anointed and appointed  to bring your confession of His Word to pass!

d.) Meditate in the  Word: Joshua 1:8.  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, ...for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Psalms 1:2.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 1 Timothy 4: 15.  Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. A.) MEMORIZE, B.) PERSONALIZE, C.) VISUALIZE

A MORE SURE WORD THAN THE WORD FROM YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!

a.) What is the difference in a truth and a fact?

When the doctor send word that you have a terminal disease, you have a  more sure Word that says “by His stripes you were healed...”

THE WORD WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL!

Acts 19:20.  So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
